Alec had just stepped out of the lift when he saw a large group of men dressed in matching robes crowded in the reception area. If he had been anywhere else, and these men hadn’t been carrying a stretcher between then, Alec would have forgotten all sense of pride and manliness to ask for each ones autograph. Those robed belonged to the Chudly Cannons.
But instead he shook his head, clearing it. A nearby superior was already yelling out orders for some Mediwizard to take the stretcher to a vacant room.
“Janes, you take this one.” Alec nodded and followed the stretcher into the blinding white hospital room. Without asking what had happened, he cast a quick diagnostic spell. A dislocated shoulder, a couple of other smaller bones broken, and a good deal of pain that Alec could only assume was from falling from a great height. He’d seen worse. And since the players where in uniform it was a good assumption that they had been practicing.
“Bludger?” Without waiting for a response he turned to a younger wizard waiting to assist. “Could you get me a bone strengthening potion and a bottle of Friztend?” The boy nodded and left. Alec turned back to the patient. He took a breath, and concentrated. A dislocated shoulder wasn’t a very complicated spell, but his training had taught him that even the simplest spell could go horribly wrong. He pointed his wand at the mans shoulder and muttered the spell, watching as the white tentacles of light crept toward the man and fixed the injury.
He relaxed slightly and heard his mentors voice in his head. ”Talk to the patient. It’s your job to make them comfortable. If they are frightened or confused consol them.” He looked at the man’s face.
“My name is Mediwizard Janes. How are you feeling?”
